"Thamer Abdel Latif, one of the directors at the ministry and a civil servant, Ikhlas Ghalib, were shot dead at 7:30 a.m. in the center of Baghdad," said Adnan Abdel Rahman, a spokesman for Iraq's Interior Ministry in a telephone interview from Baghdad.
