SYMBOLIC US MARINES CONVOY ENTERS FALLUJAH

More than a dozen US Marines' armoured vehicles entered the Sunni Muslim bastion of Fallujah on a symbolic tour of the city rocked last month by the deadliest fighting in Iraq since last year's US invasion.

Earlier, a marine officer told AFP the convoy would include Major General James Mattis, the head of the 1st Marine Division, but it was impossible to confirm if he was in one of the 20 vehicles that sped through.
